Jose's People to People Trip to Europe

Dear friends and family,
Never in my life would I have thought that I would be blessed with the amazing opportunity of traveling to 7 different countries other than Mexico. Growing up with my family of a single mom and generations of family members who did not go to college, I had thought that my fate would end up similar to theirs, with no hope for the future. My Mom has always emphasized the importance of education and how I should take advantage of the opportunities that came my way, and with this trip to Europe, I will be able to take another step towards my dreams.
I have been accepted to a People to People Student Ambassador program, which will allow me to discover 7 countries in Europe, including England, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. People to People is an academic travel organization that allows students to see the world from more than just a tourist standpoint. When I go to Europe in July, we will be studying the art and history of all these specific countries. With this organization, I will be receiving academic credit and an experience of a life time that seemed unrealistic for a mere athlete from a low income backround. This opportunity has sparked a fire within me that has made me ambitious and determined to see the world.
The total program cost is $7,500 and includes travel, housing and food, museum entry fees, etc. I am currently working on raising the funds through other avenues but with your help, I am hoping to raise the remaining $4,000. I need to collect all funds by mid-April 2014.
