my rottweiler, bailey surgery

Donation protected

to those of you that are dog lovers you may understand this story. i woke up on march 7th and tripped over what seemed to me at the time a trip wire in my bedroom. when i turned the lights on i was surprised to see fishing line wrapped around just about everything in my room. i preceded to go out of my room to find my rottweiler, bailey laying in the hallway with fishing line coming out of her mouth. i panicked and yelled for my son matthew who was still sleeping to help. he grabbed a lighter and we burned the line to release her from the 400+ feet of line that went through the entire house. after she was released the line was collected from the bedroom, down the stairs, in the kitchen around the table, through the living room and beyond. i gave a slight tug on the line in baileys mouth and realized that this was not coming out. it's 5:54am at this time. i called the emergency vets and was advised that fishing line is one of the most dangerous things for an animal to swallow and needed to bring her in. i did just that. she was xrayed quite quickly and the results were my worse nightmare. there was about 15 feet of line wrapped all around her intestines and the only option was surgery. she had surgery and it went well. they cut her about 10 inches and they were able to manipulate the line through her intestines into her colon. great news! the bad news, the bill is $3500. at this point we were ready to pick her up the next day, driving there the vet called saying she isn't doing to well and is throwing up and running a fever. i still went to visit her. she cried and laid on my lap in complete confusion of what is going on. as the day progressed she didn't get better, in fact worse. she is still there and may need another surgery. it's possible that she now has an obstruction and the line has yet to come out. bailey was rescued about 3 years ago but the truth is at that time i was going through a lot and she actually rescued me. i do not have the funds to cover her surgery and would be broken to live without her. for those of you that know me, i'm not one to ask for help, instead i'm the one who would do anything for anyone else. i'm at a point where i feel i don't have a choice so i can save my baby girl and not euthanize her if the choice is surgery to save her life. anything will help. thank you all who have prayed for her and the support during this very difficult time! april
