Clean Water for Kids

Donation protected
As some of you may know, recent laws mandate that schools in Maryland have water tested for lead. Unfortunately, the results are showing that there is lead in the water of many Anne Arundel County Public Schools. I am a teacher at North County High School in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Our test results just came out on September 28th and they show that the water in our school contains lead. Science shows that lead is toxic and the damage that can be caused is irreversible. The EPA “sets the maximum contaminant level goal for lead in drinking water at zero because lead is a toxic metal that can be harmful to human health even at low exposure levels. Lead is persistent, and it can bioaccumulate in the body over time.” Lead in the water of schools is a national problem and has been for some time. While people are working on the issue, the amount of time it can take to implement long term solutions does not adequately address the immediate concern for the health of our students or provide readily available funds to help provide immediate access to clean drinking water. Please join me and consider making a donation to this campaign so that we may continue to implement short term immediate solutions like bottled water and/or water cooler stations for the 2400+ students at North County High School.
