Help for Harold
After finishing his studies as a Radiology Technician and as he was about to begin his internship to become licensed, my cousin Harold Augusto Corchado (22), had a seizure that led him to seek medical attention. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor called Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma with Intracranial Extension. Harold had a pacemaker inserted when he was a year old which has been changed 3 times over the years. Being a cardiac patient, he could not have a MRI done so he underwent a vascular catheterization by way of embolization. Fortunately the tumor is benign and operable. Unfortunately, it is a very aggressive tumor that not only is in the front of the brain but has grown to the posterior orbit and involves multiple cranial nerves.
Due to the complexity of the operation and after being evaluated by a team of neurologists at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico, the consensus was that the operation can not be performed safely in Puerto Rico. Harold's brother, Albert and his friend Eva secured a team of neurologists to deal with Harold's case in the state of Florida.
We have opened this page with the authorization of his parents (my first cousin) to help with the monumental medical expenses as well as the expenses involved in moving to the United States until he goes through the surgery.
Harold continues to suffer from convulsions, loss of sight, dizziness, among other symptoms that forced him to make the difficult decision to postpone his internship. He is a humble, family-oriented and hardworking young man. Please help us help his family through this difficult situation so that he can continue realizing his dream.
