Spike's TPLO surgery

Donation protected
Hey everyone, this is Spike. He is my huge, lovable, snuggle-monster. We have been together ever since he adopted me as his human in Texas 9 years ago. He has helped me through some pretty terrible time times and I couldn't ask for a better friend. When I've had a bad day or I'm not feeling well Spike has always been there to snuggle up to me and crush me with his love. He always cheers me up and makes me feel better. This dog is so crazy good at the whole unconditional love thing. Of course I love him back with all of my heart. I've always done the best I can for him.

Unfortunately, Spike has a bum knee because he tore his cranial cruciate ligament. It has bothered him for quite some time now. Sometimes he lets me ice it but it's gotten to the point where he needs surgical intervention. The doc says he needs a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy. Basically, they need to cut the top of the tibia off, rotate it, and then reattach ligaments and tendons. It's a pretty popular canine orthopedic surgery and it has great success rates. It's actually considered an extremely effective long-term solution for dogs with cruciate ligament injury.

The problem is that the surgery is pretty expensive. Because he's a bigger boy the surgery and medication fees are $3200. The basic evaluation fee is $114 but if they need to do any lab work or imaging it will add another $500. So, I'm looking at a total of about $3814. I have some money saved up but it's nowhere near enough. If I can't come up with the money in time Spike and I face some pretty grim realities. The doc says that if the surgery isn't performed within the next month or so that Spike's knee will probably give out completely and his case will officially become an emergency. I would have to surrender him to the state and hope that they choose to perform the surgery. More than likely though he would be put down.

I can't tell you how much this thought breaks my heart! Spike has been my best and most loyal friend ever since we found each other. He still has so many good years ahead of him. I can't bear the thought of losing him too early. So, I'm running on faith here and I went ahead and scheduled the surgery for March 31st. I'm really hoping and praying I can get the funds together in time.

So this is my plea for help from you. If you could find it in your heart to donate whatever amount you can to fund his surgery we would both be eternally grateful! Any donation helps! I know it's a lot to ask but I'm at the end of my rope. I don't know what else to do. Spike has always been my rock and I have to try my hardest to do what's best for him. So if you feel like making a girl and her dog super happy today consider donating to this fundraiser. Thank you so much to everyone who helps us out! It means the world to us both and your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
