Thank you to all who have donated.

In Reflection of the Funeral. My Family has been blessed with the love of family, friends and community. To be back around the philosophy of church that I grew up around was truly inspiring. To have Father Ron an old friend of my dad's and old friend of father O'Hara was truly personal and uplifting. This was a day to remember far beyond conceivable in the way of how it came together. I am truly grateful for what I have learned. The sun shined so bright today in Corktown and the sound of the bugle playing in the brisk air was the most beautiful sound as the tribute played in my dads stomping grounds. We did it right for him and I thank everyone for the help to send my dad off in the way that he deserved.

After being off life support for approximately 4 hours, my dad gracefully passed away at 5:54pm. My dad was an immigrant from Malta who was raised in Corktown Detroit who eventually married an Irish lady who is my mom Jean. My dad was a medic in the Vietnam war who was exposed to Agent Orange chemical. My dad was a man without a flaw in character. He was a printer for many years before he went to work in the community and then became the humanitarian that he was helping in the coalition to fight homelessness. My dad gave up a lot to go to work for people who needed help and didn't know how to help themselves. When I was young it was hard to understand why he would ever do this and spend so much time for so little personal material gain. The human soul was just simply too important to my dad and money was just never as important. As I got older and older I realized that my dad was filthy rich in spirit. He is a man that is loved by so many. A loving man by nature, a giver, a teacher and healer. My dad never needed status or new cars or a job title to describe what he did. His style made him fit in with his "Homies" (Homeless people) - His good friends would joke about his silly hats and he would just say "WHattt?"... My dad helped start and Shepard the largest rotating shelter in MI which is know as MCREST. I can only hope to be as good of a dad to my son and daughter and try my best to relay what I have learned from my dad. My dad walked the walk and was a man of god who never told you what you should believe. He could only lead those who needed to be lead to brighter days and dismissed the negatives that bring us down. He inspired people everyday to work a little harder and to find the good path and walk it. you could lean on him even if you only new him for a couple minutes. I always made time for my dad and he always made time for me. We talked and talked about god and theory, politics and social issues. Timeless talk that would evolve and evolve. My respect for my dad is a basis for everything I do and say and for when I am mad at myself for failing at times. My dad was a corktown kid and we will have his service at Most Holy Trinity in Detroit. When my dads family moved to Detroit from Malta, Most Holy Trinity and Father Kern helped my dads family get established in the country. My dad always talked about how he learned so much there and felt that by doing the good deeds he would commit his life too, it would serve as pay back for when his family needed help. I hate to ask, but donations to help with my dads funeral costs is very much needed. I will have service details very soon. Thank you to all who have donated it means a lot to us at this time. My dad is resting easy and we will all love and miss him so much. RIP my dad!
