Capstone 2014 Cambodia Missions

Over the past several years, our church has been supporting missionaries as well as sending small teams to do missions work abroad and locally. This year, we have gathered a team to go to Cambodia.

Brief Background about Cambodia:
Cambodia is comprised of a demographic where 50% of the population is younger than 25 years old and several are single mothers, orphaned children, and prostitutes. Still to this day, there are many areas that have landmines underground and pose a threat and daily danger to the surrounding communities resulting in high numbers of disabled people, amputees, and orphaned children.
It is estimated that only 36% of the population has access to safe drinking water, and 32.7% of the population is illiterate.
Cambodia is a source, transit, and destination country for human trafficking.
Our Vision/Hope:

"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin:" ~ Zechariah 4:10 (NLT)
When we hope for lasting change, we must first start by initiating it and persevering through the small beginnings. For we understand that small things must first take place before big things can happen.
When our desires are in line with God's, He will always carry it to completion; for He is faithful. (Philipians 1:6)
Our God rejoices to see the small beginnings of a work that He has ordained.
Although we will only be in Cambodia for a brief period of time, we hope that we can initiate the "small beginnings" that will ripple and transform into glorious change in the nation and people of Cambodia. We pray through serving in love, teaching by The Holy Spirit, and walking in faith that God will be honoured and glorified.
What We are going to do:
This year, we are going to support a missionary who currently serves at an orphanage in Kampong Speu, Cambodia. We will be working with her to provide humanitarian aid to the orphanage as well as partnering with local schools to serve in music, sport, and english ministries.
We will also have the chance to work with local ministries in villages and other groups that protect and shelter women and teenagers from prostitution.
Where is your support going?
Your sponsorship will support the six members of this year's team from May 29th to June 16th to help fund travelling costs and further costs associated with Ministry supplies & logistics.
