Brandon's Kidney Transplant Fund

I was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy (over active imume system) in 2006, my junior year in high school.  It was then that I learn my kidney may fail completely unless I start treament right away. They started me on massive amount of steroids to get my levels under control. I blew up like a balloon. I had to change my diet and have blood work done every week.I maintain my levels until it was just before christmas when the doctor told me I needed to start dialysis and I had to figure out what kind I wanted to do.So, that started my first surgery, getting a fistula. I started dialysis in Jan, 2011.I can remember how scared I was to start dialysis. My mom went with me for the first couple of weeks.  I currently have to go to dialysis three times per week for 4 hours. I have had many complications during my journey so far, including two staph infections, had my parathyroid removed, problems with my fistula resulting in having 3 stints put in my arm.That is so it will help with the flow. I also have a large aneurysm on my fistula. I am waiting on my compresion cuff to come in.I have to wear it to force pressure on my aneurysms so it doesn't grow any more. They say my steroids are what is damaging my fistula but, I have to be on them.
I am currently taking numerous medications costing $1500 per month.  Insurance only pays $1000 of that. Since I cannot work due to my condition, my parents are left to pay the rest.  After I eventually recieve a kidney transplant, I will have a new prescription for an anti-rejection medication which will cost an additional $3000 per week.  My part of this additional medication will be $600 per week.  This will bring my total medication cost to $2900 per month after insurance!
When I am foretunate enough to finally recieve a kidney transplant, my family will have to incure additional costs for the surgery and hospital stay.  In 2011, the average cost for a transplant and the first year of after care was $262K.  The craziest part of the surgery is insurance does not cover the anesthesiologist!  My portion of that costs is $52,400, again not including anesthetics.
My dream is to one day be able to live a life not revolving around hospital trips and dialysis.  I would like to attend culinary school, and possibly open a coffee shop some day.
My mother talked with the transplant coordinator at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St Louis, MO, in the first week of March, 2014, and found out that I am currently between number 50 and 60 on the transplant list.  My Mom said the day I get my traplant will be the happiest day of her life.
