As a lot of people know,  Few years back i was an avid metal detectorist, out every few days and most weekends, detecting local lands and beaches, I was Happy, I felt free, I also helped out on and with charity events, raising money for the local MS centre, hospices, and children's centre, well after 2 years of detecting, i started to feel very poorly, weak and sore all the time, i carried on as best as i could, pushed through the pain as best as i could,  till one day i collapsed while hunting on a beach, so i took  few weeks off to recuperate, i finally got my dream permission, my local playing field, been a playing field since the early 1900's,  i told the local museum i would donate all finds to them,

two days in to the hunt, i felt a sudden sharp pain rush through my body, i collapsed again, this time it was real bad, i was in so much pain i thought i was going to black out,  i sat and composed myself, managed to get myself back up and made my way home,

The next morning i awoke to take my son to work, (as i do every morning) and i collapsed again, an ambulance was called, and i was then sent to see a Dr,

After months of blood test and other test, i was sent to a rheumatologist , He diagnosed me with FIBROMYALGIA,  (on top of other problems that stint from a car accident 17 years ago)
that was it, i thought my life was over,

I was 40 years old, i was healthy (ish) i suddenly started to feel 80 years old,

that’s was it, i had to give up my loving hobby, my life line, my freedom was gone, suck in the house in pain, depressed,

i felt low, i needed that hobby, but no, i sold my equipment, i though i had no choice, all the stories i heard about Fibro, how people had committed suicide through the pain and depression,

Well here i am, 2 years later, i still have the Fibro, I still have the depression, but because of medical science i am on a reasonable pain relief, it doesn’t take the pain away, but it helps.  also because of friends and family, i have learned to be a fighter again,

I was told by my heath and metal well being dr, to get out and try detecting again so This is why i am reaching out to you all,  i am hoping to raise funds for some new or used metal detecting equipment, i have the opportunity to be out there with people i enjoy talking with, people who have helped me in the past,

I’m not asking for all the top spec equipment, i do how ever need equipment that is not to heavy and is easy to use, ,

i feel rotten and cheeky asking for help, but i am on Benefits due to the illnesses,

This is not a sob story,

This is my story,

I was once healthy fun loving man, and i would love to be again,  i would love be healty and strong again to be able to get back to work to, maybe this is my chance,

So if you can find it in your hearts to help a little or what you can, then it would be gratefully received,

I just want to get back out and do my bit for the charities that have helped so many, i want to try and get my health back on track,

Thank you for reading my story, and i hope to be out there again real soon,

I have set an amount of £600, that should get me the basics of metal detecting equipment,
