Help children in Namibia

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Chelsea Vanderwerff and I am a third year nursing student at the University of Victoria. In May of this year I will be going to Namibia, Africa for a nursing practicum experience. In this time I will be providing care to children in the pediatric unit of an 850 bed hospital with minimal resources. This hospital is called Katatura hospital in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. I will be in the hospital four days a week for five weeks .

For one day a week, I will be volunteering at the Home of Good Hope soup kitchen, which was started by Eileen Greene the nursing instructor we are travelling with. This soup kitchen feeds over 500 children 2 meals a day. Many of these children have been orphaned by AIDS and have contracted the disease themselves. With these two meals a day they are then able to take their HIV medication and live a longer life.

You can learn more about the Home of good Hope at: http://www.homeofgoodhope.ca/welcome/

One of my greatest passions in life is help those in our world that are less fortunate than myself and Namibia is giving me the opportunity to do so. Please help me get to Namibia to provide the best possible care to these children, and hopefully make an impact on their lives while I am there. Donations will help to send me to Namibia and help these children have a positive healing experience. Any donations big or small will help my cause. Donations above my set goal will go directly to food and supplies for the Home of Good Hope. Help me to help those less fortunate than ourselves! Thank you so much for your time!
