Community Food Bank Bethnal Green

Food bank use has more than quadrupled in some parts of London, and more than quadrupled in the boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Newham during the Coronavirus pandemic and with the second lockdown underway the demand to make food accessible is greater than ever.

The London.gov.uk website recently reported ‘The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has made it much more difficult for many Londoners to financially or physically access food. This includes thousands of Londoners on no or low incomes, including many older people, those with disabilities, rough sleepers and asylum seekers and migrants with No Recourse to Public Funds.’

With this is in mind I wanted to do something about it, so I have decided to start a food bank in Bethnal Green over the next lockdown and hopefully into the future to make sure everyone who needs it has access to food. Both monetary and food donations are welcome. The venue is still yet to be decided but for now anything you can give would be massively appreciated by myself and I’m sure by all people that will be able to benefit from the food bank itself.
