Friends, family, and fellow longhorns, rally around Janie Perez and help her fight Hodgkin's Lymphoma by donating towards her treatments, medicine, and hospital care.
During this struggle, Janie has taken a great attitude as she fights cancer, becoming the epidomy of the quote, "Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength." She is a super optimistic and positive person, and we all can't wait until she beats this disease.
Unfortunately, medical expenses are as much of a reality as the cancer itself. She is a very dedicated teacher, but can't seek employment in the field because of her low immune system (a consequence of Hodgkin's). Until she is cleared for a part-time job, she needs all the financial help she can get (for those of you who don't know, she was first diagnosed in Japan while teaching abroad. And while she was thankfully finally transferred to MD Anderson, travel expenses alone depleted available savings).
