Amanda's quest for better stewardship

Donation protected
For many years I have been intrigued by and drawn to the idea of living more in sync with my environment. I have been fascinated by evidence of ancient peoples using the land and resources around them to create healthy, full lives for their families and communities. After dreaming about it for years, I have finally decided to pursue studying practices and techniques that will teach me some of this lost art. I am hoping to gain a knowledge in how to use the land around us to grow healthy food while practicing good stewardship of God's creation. And I am going to learn different techniques for creating shelter and structures using God-given natural resources as well as conventional and/or recycled materials available.

In March, I will begin a 6 month long (one weekend a month) class gaining me a certification in Permaculture Design. In May, I will attend a design/build school in Vermont learning various methods and techniques for natural building. I hope to begin implementing some of the knowledge I learn in and around the Greensboro community. Ultimately, I hope to encourage, teach, and help others gain access to life practices that allow them live a healthy, affordable, sustainable, self-sufficient life style that  honors their life and community as well as God's creation and provisions. I am humbly asking for your help with this new adventure.

The permaculture class is taught by Dr. Charlie Headington in Greensboro, NC.  Information on his class is found here: http://www.earthmatters.info/permaculture.html

The natrual building certification is offered through Yestermorrow Design Build School. Information on this class and the school can be found here:
www.yestermorrow.org

Here is a break down of the $8150 needed for these classes:
      -$900=  Permaculture class and books
-$4350=  Tuition to Yestermorrow for NBC course
-$1230=  Lodging in dorm on Yestermorrow's campus
-$1120=  Meal plan at Yestermorrow during 6 week course
-$550=    Travel to and from Vermont

The items listed in the "wish list" area are extra classes or experiences I hope to participate in if funding is available.

I am so excited to begin moving in this new direction. And I am so grateful for any support (whether financial or otherwise!) I receive. Thank you so much!
