If you've heard of "Dystonia" then "Cheyenne Ashley Willis" will ring a bell. Diagnosed in 2007, Cheyenne underwent DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) 2 stimulating rods were placed in her brain and 2 battery's were surgically placed in her chest to power them. These batteries last 4-7 years. Her recent visit to UCSF confirmed its time for replacement. This surgery will cost about 49,000. Out of pocket cost will be 9,700.
