Assistance with Medical Expenses

Our neighbor, Stanley Brixey,  was diagnosed with three kidney stones in August and they are too big to pass on their own.  He was diagnosed in Hettinger and sent on to Bismarck to see a specialist.  They went in and put a stint in the left kidney but because one of the stones is blocking the ureter they couldn’t put one in the right. They had to take him back to surgery to put in a tube from the outside through his back into the kidney to drain it until surgery to remove that stone as well as another one in the right kidney. Due to an infection he wasn’t able to have surgery to remove the tube and kidney stones on August 27th  like planned but is rescheduled to have it on September10th. He will also need surgery to blast the stone on the left side and then to take the stint out at a later date.

Stanley has also been having problems with his jaw that have caused trouble eating and swallowing food.  This will have to be diagnosed and treated just as soon as the kidney stones have been removed as it has caused him to lose a considerable amount of weight.  All of these issues have left him very tired and weak.  He has been unable to work in his shop or do any ranchwork for over a month.

There will be numerous trips to Bismarck for the kidney procedures which will require both inpatient and outpatient hospital stays.  Although, Stanley has insurance, there will be travel expenses, deductibles and co-pays that are not covered by insurance.  At this time, we are unsure of the treatment for his jaw or where he will have to go for treatment.  If it is myasthenia gravis as they suspect, there will be many more doctor visits involved.
