Ava Lee is precious soul- wise beyond her 5 years and with a heart of gold. What began as a skin infection turned out to reveal a heart-breaking diagnosis for a rare type of leukemia (mixed lineage of both AML and ALL). She is currently undergoing her first course of chemotherapy to begin the long and difficult road ahead. We hope and pray that Gwen, Ava's younger sister, will be a perfect match as a bone marrow donor when the time comes.
Ava comes from a remarkable family, whose love, faith, brightness, and generosity have touched countless people. Despite a difficult childhood due to severe food allergies (anaphylaxis caused by even traces of most food categories) and countless harrowing trips to the emergency room, Ava emerges each time to warm us with her radiance.
As an example of what kind of girl Ava is, her mother Esther shares, "When I told Ava that Gwen would need to get a shot to help her, she again cried and said, 'Why does she need to get a shot? I don't want her to. She's not the one that's sick; I am. She's just a baby.' Ava doesn't realize how dire her situation is but, even if she did, I believe she would stay true to her character in wanting to protect her 'baby'."
Loving friends and family are joining together to support Ava and her family and help them fight this battle together. They are grateful beyond words for the outpouring of love and support given thus far.

Please join us in support of them, as we seek to raise funds to cover medical bills not covered by insurance and also to support their family as both parents have had to put their lives on hold to be with her at the hospital. No gift is too small and will be a blessing to Ava's family.
