Paws for a Princess (Autism Service Dog)

Shannon is our beautiful little girl, she is so funny, and lights up a room with her smile and she LOVES animals. No matter what size or shape she doesn't discriminate- horses, dogs, cats, chickens, bunnies to her it doesn't matter; she even holds snakes.
Shannon was diagnosed with Autism at 21 months old. Shannon's Autism is complicated by her seizure disorder that is worsened by over stimulation. Recently, Shannon has developed a behavior very common to people living with Autism called Elopeing and Bolting. Which causes her to wander or bolt away from safety much like a person with dementia. 

A service dog for Shannon will be trained specifically to meet her needs. The most urgent need her dog will meet is the ability to track her scent, hold and retrieve her when she wanders or bolts.  Her service dog will also be able to help with self-soothing during melt downs and socialization by serving as a bridge to the people in the community that ask about her dog. Shannon's dog will provide her with deep pressure which helps calm her down before she has a meltdown. This would allow our little girl to live her life more fully. Shannon's dog will also be able to help her with the seizures by providing stability or a brace.
