Helping Cambodian women find support

Donation protected
This summer I will be spending two months volunteering with the Women's Resource Center in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This awe inspiring non-profit provides free educational sessions to women and girls on issues including women's health, safe motherhood, legal aid, domestic violence and positive parenting skills.

Cambodia is still recovering from the late 1970's genocidal regime of Khmer Rouge, which targeted educated people and resulted in the loss of not only two million people but knowledge and infrastructure as well.  This has brought about severe gender inequality for women, who in most cases are expected to leave school at a young age. These women work in low paid, labor intensive jobs, while bearing children and being housewives. Most women are dependent on their husbands which, in some cases, forces them to stay in any abusive relationship they are experiencing.

Won't you please join me in supporting women and girls in Cambodia so they too will someday be able to live a fruitful life of potential and respect?

They say that 'a picture is worth a thousand words', which is why I encourage you to check out the 4 minute You Tube video 'In her Cambodian Shoes' and WRC's face book page and website.
