November of 2013 John's symptoms of lymphoma first began. He started having night sweats, fevers daily, severe coughing and eventually weight loss. The week before Thanksgiving an Xray and blood panel were performed and the results came back normal. He was treated for bronchitis and respiratory infections but the symptoms continued. After returning from a pastor's retreat John's symptoms worsened.
February 12, 2014 John went back in to see his doctor and they ordered an immediate CT scan. By that evening we received a phone call that there was a large mass in the chest and they were suspicious of lymphoma. The following day he had a biopsy of the mass.
During the week of February 17, 2014 began our search for an oncologist. Finding and choosing a doctor was a much greater task than we had anticipated. God's sovereign hand intervened and moved in a doctor's heart to choose John and take him on as a patient. After we met with the oncologist we came to find out that not only was he an expert in treating lymphoma but he had published studies on treating bulky masses which John has. There are several enlarged lymph nodes but the largest one is 13 cm x 10 cm approx. 5 1/8" x 4" (the size of a grapefruit). We now patiently await a final diagnosis to determine stage and class of lymphoma. We are safely in the Lord's hands.
