To Ghana With Love

Donation protected
Greetings,

My name is Natural Langdon an award winning Independent Filmmaker and Co-Founder of OpenMindz Productions which has produced films. (Bullets Over Brownsville, P.O.E. and, OpenMindz On The Grind, a documentary film that chronicles the campaign struggles of raising funds to attend a film festival in Berlin Germany.)

Three weeks ago, I was awakened from my sleep at 3am with a burning desire that I needed to go to Mother Africa! The calling was real and Ghana is where I had to go. Why Mother Africa? Why the vision? With no funds or resources, I questioned how could this happen? How could this be possible?

I immediately went on Facebook and contacted my childhood friend Malcolm, who moved to Ghana 10 years ago. When I went to send him a message, it was strange because I saw a message he had sent me two years prior that said he had a dream I came to visit him in Ghana. I don't remember seeing this before, so that was the final confirmation that I should reach out and inquire if he was still in Ghana and let him know I wanted to come out there and document my African journey.

I sent him the message and got the reply to come out there, and this is where it gets exciting. They say what can go wrong will go wrong, but this experience has already taught me many valuable lessons, like being humble but confident in the face of adversity; follow your inner voice; don't live in fear; and don't let anyone or anything stop you from reaching your goals!

Every set back is a setup for something greater to happen. I asked Malcolm when was the best time to visit and he said the sooner the better so project "To Ghana With Love" started!

Many obstacles later, I am proud and ecstatic to say that I will be leaving for Ghana on March 20, 2014. I have reached out to many recording artists in Ghana and I will be documenting them and sharing their stories. I will be focusing on Hip Hop, Music, Culture, Fashion, and Community. I am excited because "Team Ghana" as I have been lovingly referring to all the brothers and sisters of Africa, has been supporting this mission and helping to shape and mold it into reality and I am truly grateful for their love and support.

I've had the opportunity to travel abroad screening my movies, documenting and sharing stories in Germany, London, Amsterdam and all across the world. But this is different to me; I have always wanted to travel to West Africa, where millions of our ancestors came from due to the Trans-Atlantic slave trade so I realized I'm blessed to get this opportunity. I plan to do my best and be a vehicle to share this experience with people who may not get to travel to Africa but still want to see the Motherland and all it has to offer.

I'm asking you to please donate to this great cause; share this message on your social media sites and send an email sharing this campaign if you feel compelled.

I thank you in advance and please know that I receive your donations with love and admiration. Donations will help to cover expenses related to travel, hotel, food, and documenting this journey. Any amount helps!  I appreciate your support! I look forward to sharing this experience with you! Stay Blessed!
