Please Help Our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma.

Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother has overcome many obstacles in her life, including the loss of both of her parents at a young age; the death of our father when he was just 42; and the death of her oldest son, our brother, when he was killed at just 23 years old in a plane crash. She has survived these tragedies with dignity, grace and strength.

A few years ago, she faced another battle - cancer. She survived this, too. For several years, she was cancer free. Her successful bout with cancer took everything she had, both physically and emotionally.

Unfortunately, the cancer has returned and mom is dealing with stage 3 invasive squamous cell carcinoma. Our family does not have the financial resources to be able to afford further treatment, which is very expensive.

Our mom has always been a strong, independent, humble woman. She has worked hard for everything she's ever gotten in life. She never asks for anything, but is always quick to help others.

Our family NEEDS our mom. She is the core of our family, which includes her 2 sons, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mom is very active and outgoing. She lights up a room with her sharp wit, incredible sense of humor and positive attitude. She frequently writes secret little letters to God expressing her gratitude for the good things in her life (which we occasionally find squirreled away in her books). She has many years left and the thought of her leaving us far too soon is unbearable.

She is not ready to give up and has high hopes for recovery. Her chances are good, but none of us can afford to pay for her treatment. We need help to keep mom around for many more years, so that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren can experience the joy that she has been in our lives.
