Treatment and Support for Gloria and Josh

Donation protected
On May 14th, my sister Gloria traveled to Prince George, British Colombia from Alaska, to visit friends and family before her sweet baby arrived.  She was eight months pregnant and had planned on returning back home to Alaska to deliver her baby. On Friday (May 24th) Gloria was at her baby shower when she began to feel sick and have a really bad migraine. Her friends brought her to the emergency room and they immediately admitted her the hospital, and was told she had preeclampsia. Over the next few days they tried to stabilize her blood pressure but  things took a turn for the worst and on Monday May 27th, she had to have an emergency c-section. My nephew Jack Wolf was born at 4:30pm weighing 4lbs 13oz but he was not well. And to make matters worse, her husband Joshua, was in the middle of his flight to Prince George when their son was born.

Throughout the evening, the doctors and nurses at Prince Georges Hospital did everything they could to keep the baby alive and in stable condition but they decided he had the best chance of survival if he was airlifted to the Children's Hospital in Vancouver. That evening baby Jack Wolf was airlifted to Vancouver, where his father Josh was awaiting his arrival. Josh was immediately by his side and spent the whole night holding his tiny hand. The next morning, Gloria was also airlifted to Vancouver so they could all be together as a family. However, all of the specialists, doctors and nurses were not able to save my nephew. On May 28th he was taken off life support and passed away in my sister's arms, with her husband by her side. We were all devastated by the news of his passing and never could have expected that the situation would soon become worse.

After my nephew passed away, Gloria's condition began to worsen and she had to be transferred to yet another hospital (since the Children's Hospital was not equipped to deal with adults). Her family was advised of her deteriorating condition and were immediately flown to St. Paul's hospital in Vancouver to be by her side, as the doctors did not expect her to pull through. Gloria's condition has stabilized but she is currently on a ventilator in the intensive care unit and fighting for her life.

We have been informed that her MSP (Medical Services Plan) in Canada will not cover the cost of her care (or the care received by her son) - this is due to the fact that she has been a resident of the United States for the past eight years. Unfortunately, her health insurance in the United States will also not cover any of the care she received in Canada.

Gloria and her husband Josh do not need this financial burden on top of everything they have already been through. The medical bills are astronomical and are continuing to grow.  We are asking for any donations to help them cover the bills from this horrible tragedy. My sister is the sweetest, kindest person and she did not deserve any of this. We are asking for any help you are able to give - any donation, of any amount helps. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
