Please, Oswald Needs Help!!

Donation protected

Oswald, the Dude, needs your help, we need your help. As difficult, emabarassing and painful as it is to ask, we are pleading for help so we can give our baby boy the long full life he deserves. We love him so very much, he has such a charismatic way about him, he drips personality. The house is so empty without him, now down to two cats, it is eerily quiet without the big guy causing a fuss. Oswald is forever the kid who stands in the corner with his tounge out and fingers in his ears yelling "look at me, look at me".
He came into our lives when I asked my wife to marry me, with the intention of a kitten tail to hold the ring, my plans were foiled when I brought home this tailess manx kitten. She said yes to me, after he stole her heart.

Oswald is a sweet little boy who has faced many challenges in his 6+ years. He has a cronic condition which he spent 14 days in hopspital for when he was going on three years old. We fought with everything we had to save him; even when we were told there was no hope. Oswald perservered and showed everyone he could overcome no matter what. This was a trying time, stressful, emotional, as well as costly. We fought through with the Dude facing all of the obstacles in front of us; in debt but happy with our family together. Now going on 7 years next month, Oswald faces a new problems and needs our help again. This time, we can not do it alone. We need help, he needs help.
This has been a trying few years with a lot of loss, heartache and change. Financially trying with the loss of my wife's job of seven years,we have managed to stay a float, just barely. Emotionally, most recently, in May, we lost Oswald's big sister after 17 years, now less than a year later Oswald is facing grave illness. We devote our hearts and all that we have to our pets, we love them as our children, seeing anyone of them suffer is devistating. We are doing whatever is possible to help Oswald in his time of need so he can come home where he belongs. We miss him, his sister Annabelle misses him. We are lost without him and need him to complete our little family.
Oswald has been at the veterinary hospital for over a week now, starting with an emergency trip at 2am. After a night of throwing up followed by laboured breathing we did not hesitate to pack ourselves up to get him help. Not sure what exactly was going on with him he was put through the gammet of tests and procedures, resulting in the waiting game while our baby boy clung for life on iv, oxygen and eventually was given feeding tube. Scared, all we could do was hope and pray, we continue to do so.

Several days had passed, and it was decided to treat him for an Upper Respitory Infection, although there were still unanswered questions and uncertainty. Unsatisfied with unanswered questions additional testing, an ultrasound, scope and biopsy were preformed. Tests came back positive for the herpes virus. The scope showed that Oswald's nasal passages were so swollen and raw that the the air passsage was shut at his throat, causing him to mouth breathe. The stomach biopsy indicated gastral intenstional upset which may have been the root of the problem causing the herpes flare up and causing such a raw esophogus and nasal passage. He has been unable to take anything by mouth since this began, his feeding tube the reason he is with us today.

Sunday March 2nd was the first day we walked in and didn't fear the worst for Oswald. His back to us, we said "hi" to him, he turned around and looked up at us bright eyed. We opened his cage door and he stomped on out like he owned the place. Two days prior he had snapped his IV, and he flat out refused a second one being put in. Fluids, food and medication have since been administered through his feeding tube.
Still on a feeding tube while his esophogus heals enough for him to take food and water orally, we wait patiently to see the next steps to a healthy boy.
Knowing how expensive this is going to be in the long run, we are asking for any help you have to give. If you can spare a couple of dollars, the cost of a cup of coffee, to help Oswald get through this and come home we would be eternally grateful! If you cannot help give we ask that you share our story to help reach people that can help. Anything you can do to help is more than appreciated. Oswald is a big boy who is full of heart, we are asking that you please look into yours and help him in this time of need.Longing for Oswald to come home, his sister looks for him and doesn't understand where he is. We wake up and look for him.. he is part of us, an we are eager to welcome a healthy boy back home. With your help, we hope we can do this soon.

There are no words to express what this experience has truly done to us, how we feel and how much the love and support we have recieved means. We are blessed with a top knotch caring team of professionals dedicating themselves and their time to making him well. We are so fortunate to have so much love on our side.  It will not be forgotten, someday, somehow we ill pay it forward. Thank you, everyone.
