Sailing for Sustainability

In a few months, I will be embarking on a journey across the Pacific.
The non-profit called OceansWatch has been helping coastal communities in the Southern Pacific protect their marine resources and community livelihoods. We will sail for six months to Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands assisting in educational programs, reef monitoring and creating sustainable livelihoods. We will support ocean conservation to build strong communities.
I have always dreamed of participating in the protection of marine ecosystems. For the past 6 years, I have volunteered all over the world to help community protect their reefs, and research the extent of the marine ecological damage of our present lifestyles.
OceansWatch isn't any organization"”it's the most culturally respectful conservation effort. Ultimately, it's the communities which decide how they will integrate and create their own marine protected areas using us as a resource. This is what has brought me to work with them. With all the different types of ecological knowledge and scientific understanding, it's time we learn to collaborate and help each other with all we can offer.
Please help me achieve this goal, any help would be appreciated. This is a way for all of us to contribute to something truly positive!

Dans quelques mois, je m'embarque pour un long voyage à travers le Pacifique.
L'organisation d'OceansWatch est une ONG qui cherche à aider les communautés du Sud-Ouest du Pacifique à protéger leurs ressources marines et leurs moyens d'existence. Nous naviguerons pendant six mois jusqu'à Vanuatu puis jusqu'au Iles Salomon pour créer des programmes éducatifs, étudier les récifs coralliens et former des emplois durables et équitables.
J'ai toujours rêvé de participer à la protection des écosystèmes marins. Depuis six ans, je fais du bénévolat à travers le monde pour protéger les récifs d'Indonésie et de la Polynésie, en étudiant la profondeur de notre impact sur les zones côtières.
OceansWatch n'est pas une organisation comme les autres, c'est une preuve unique d'un effort de respect qui ne se trouve pas ailleurs. Au final, c'est la communauté qui décide du niveau d'intégration du savoir que nous pouvons leur apporter pour créer leurs propres zones de protection marine. C'est cette approche culturelle qui m'a menée vers cette expédition. Avec toutes les connaissances traditionnelles et scientifiques de ce monde, il est temps d'apprendre à collaborer ensemble sur des projets qui nous bénéficient tous.
