Hi everyone! Thanks so much for visiting my donation page!
The company I work for is offering the opportunity to participate in a humanitarian trip to Haiti this summer, and I am trying my best to be able to be a part of this life-changing experience!
As of now, members of the community we'll be helping use a natural spring for all their water necessities (bathing, washing clothes, washing dishes, cooking, etc.). Animals living in the area also use the same water for drinking and bathing. Additionally, since there are no bath-houses, and such limited access to safe water, residents are accustomed to bathing out in the open, with no privacy whatsoever. Currently, there is a temporary water purification system on site in the area, however, it is not a permanent fixture, and cannot be left long-term, due to theft, vandalism and other safety concerns.
Below is a photo of the actual well where we will be working during our trip.
Part of the goal on this trip is to assist in the implementation of permanent water purification projects, through construction of security walls, showers/bathing areas providing privacy, and a well house building. In addition to our construction efforts, we will also have an opportunity to work at a nearby food distribution warehouse during our stay, and will be assisting at an orphanage in the area as well.
The trip will take place July 13th - July 19th. Since the cost of participation is not covered by my company, I am responsible for raising the money myself. And I need your help! I can't afford to be a part of this amazing experience without the support of my family and friends.
The total amount I will need to raise is $2000. This amount will cover the following expenses:
- Airfare to Haiti
- Accommodations on site
- Meals
- Transportation
- Vaccinations necessary for safe travel
Any amount raised above my goal will go toward the cause, helping us to make a bigger difference.
