Support for the Evans family

Donation protected
If you are reading this, there’s a good chance you already know the Evans family: Don and Rosie, and their three amazing children - Donnie, McKenzie, and Willow. I know this will include those of you from the many communities, networks, and circles of people who have been blessed by this outstanding family. I was fortunate to connect with the Evans’ through 4-H back in 2018, and quickly learned we also shared space in the homeschooling community and homesteading community. Spending some time together, I came to learn of Don’s service to our country, and the family’s deeply held faith. I also Learned that on August 13, 2011, a miracle occurred and the family survived a terrible plane crash in Alaska
you can learn more about the event here:

Over the years, the family moved through recovery while prioritizing quality of life with one another, going on to provide rich experiences in education, community work, and adventure.

Unfortunately, life was not done challenging this incredible family as
their son Donnie began navigating a blood clotting disorder, resulting in a pulmonary embolism in 2019, from which he thankfully made a full recovery.
On November 14, 2023 life once again came to a halt for Donnie. Having suffered a large blood clot in the heart, he was life-flighted to Portland for open heart surgery. Coming out of surgery, Donnie persevered with all the strength and faith you’d expect from such an exceptional person, and began the slow road to yet another recovery. However, just six days later, on November 20th, Donnie was life-flighted yet again, this time to Westchester Medical Center after suffering more clots. Following a second surgery, his vitals declined, necessitating life support. Incredibly, Donnie was able to come off of support on Thanksgiving day, however he continues to face difficulties in maintaining his oxygen saturation levels independently and is currently in the ICU.

Donnie is a dedicated full time student at UMaine, while also juggling a full time position at Home Depot, as well as a part time position at the YMCA.

There are few burdens we have the human ability to lift from this situation, but one I know we can rally to lessen is financial burden. Please in this season of hope and giving, consider contributing what feels comfortable towards the many bills and financial barriers that come with a medical crisis, so that the Evans family can put full focus on healing.

Your support is deeply appreciated!
With gratitude,
Kristin Beauchamp
