Heinekens No Stomach for Cancer!

Raymond Heikkinen was diagnosed with an aggressive form of stomach cancer in November, 2013. His family and friends were shocked to find out this news, but were ready to take on the battle.
Everyone who knows "Heineken" are humbled by his hard work and devotation to not only his family and friends, but his community as well. He has worked at Stratton Lumber for 33 years as a sawyer, and as of today has been out of work for almost 5 months. At the end of this journey, he will be out of work for well over a year. We have all learned to have a positive attitude when accepting this news, and Heineken has taken his cancer on face to face. Although he has a positive attitude, most of his days are spent dealing with exhaustion, nausea and fatigue. Chemo is very overwhelming and makes his body very sensitive to hot and cold temperatures so it is hard for him to get outside. And as everyone knows, Heineken loves to socialize!
On March 4th, Heineken will have reached his halfway mark for chemo, with a final date ending in May. With a week in between for a break, he then will travel to Boston, Massachusets where he will recieve Radiation for 28 days straight. We know we have a long journey ahead, but with positive attidues and support we know we can get through it! If everything goes as planned, the final date of treatments will be on June 27, 2014.
We hope for a speedy recovery so Heineken can spend the rest of the summer days on Flagstaff Lake, relaxing!
What will your donation go towards? Although we have insurance, it doesn't cover it all- cancer is very expensive. With chemo every other week, radiation, travel expenses, medications/shots, and being out of work, it didn't take long to realize how expensive it truly would be.
