Laptop for Distance Learning

I am teaching yearlong Distance Learning for my students this school year. The 10 year old computer I am currently using is failing. To be honest, my district is short on funds and on a teacher's salary I can not afford to purchase a new laptop. I know most of you will say, "Your district needs to step up." I wish it was that easy but it's not that simple. 

I want my students to have a successful year learning, and when I constantly have to explain to them to bear with me as I fix tech issues, it takes away from instruction time. It's extremely frustrating for all of us. 

To my districts credit they have improved the internet connection at school and they purchased a "one to one" Chromebook for every student. Yes, I am able to go to school to teach from my classroom, YEAH! They also purchased (before the pandemic hit) a large TV. Who knew I would be using it as a large "monitor" to actually "see" my students for distance learning.
