Mission Trip to Ghana

I have been selected to be a part of Christ United Methodist Church's Medicial Mission Team, who will be traveling to Ghana June 28, 2014- July 7, 2014. We will be setting up medicial camps in multiple remote villages in Ghana and providing free medicial care, as a way to build trust and relationships with the village members. We will use these relationships to get the village members to attend our crusades at night. These crusades hope to reach hundreds and thousands of unchurched Ghanians and teach them about our Savior, Jesus Christ. 

For those of you who do not know me, I have always felt a heart for missions. 1 John 3:17 has always held a special place in my heart and it says, "But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?" As Americans, we have been blessed with so many simple things that we take for granted. Many people around the world have not been as blessed and must fight for their life every day. Many ghanians do not have the funds for things like shoes to protect their feet from injury and disease, running water, electricity, bug spray or nets to protect them from malaria, immunizations, proper cooking equipment to eat sanitary meals, and even enough food to feed their families.

This will be my third time going to Ghana and I sincerely hope that there are many more trips to Ghana in my future. The people of Ghana hold such a dear and special place in my heart. They make in a year less than many of us make in a week, and yet they have so much love and compassion. Their smiles are so captivating and contagious and so is their laughter. I want to be able to give to them more than they have given me. I want to give them the opportunity for something money can't buy, and that is eternal life. I really want to push myself this year and share my faith and my testimony with everyone I meet along the trip. God has blessed with a special testimony and has tested me along the way. I want to share that story with others in hopes that it will inspire them and allow them to develop a relationship with him as well.
