A Celebration of a Son’s Life

They called themselves the Three Musketeers. Mary and her two sons Andrew and Sam. Their bond was unbreakable. For several years now Mary and Sam have tried to help Andrew beat his disease; addiction.  If you have ever had a loved one suffering from addiction, you know the disease affects everyone who loves the individual suffering.  Mary and Sam never gave up on Andrew! They made sure he knew he was loved even when his actions were unlovable. They lifted him up and praised him for every little triumph. Even if that triumph was only one week sober. It’s an exhausting disease that sucks the life out everyone in the family yet when you would see Mary and Sam the smiles on their faces would light up a room. Their pain was a private one, too many people judge addiction, they think the afflicted person just needs to CHOOSE to stop.  Mary never blamed people for not understanding, in fact she was happy they didn’t understand because that meant they hadn’t lived thru the same storm! That’s the way Mary is folks!
Today Mary’s pain cannot be hidden, she has lost her precious son Andrew shortly after his 24th birthday. No mother should have to bury her child!
I have had the pleasure of calling her my friend since our boys were in kindergarten together 19 years ago. She’s the friend that was the first on your door step when needed. Everyone of her friends could share stories about this woman that would melt your heart.
Mary needs friends today, those that know her and love her and those of you that have suffered at the arms of addiction. Those of you that are the “Mary” for your friends or would like to donate in honor of your “Mary” please help us. Addiction took a piece of her heart but we can help her heart by not having to worry about the expenses to remember him with an appropriate send off. A funeral and Celebration of Andrew’s life is what we pray the funds raised will cover.
