Maggie's Fight

thank you for visiting. This site is for my dear friend Maggie. Maggie is 24 years young and this past December 2013 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Being an athlete and a woman in her prime, this news was devastating. As if that wasn't enough she underwent a double mastectomy in January and was informed she would also need chemo. She has overcome all of this news, has continued to work out and go to the gym on the days that she feels well enough and has not once pitied herself. While Maggie is fighting this horrible illness, many women her age around her are starting to get married or have children. This is also a dream of hers. However her last appointment with the oncologist added more hurdles for her. She was advised that between the chemo and the drug tomoxifin (that she will have to take for 5 years)...her chances are proper egg production are slim and the main was to increase her chance of children in the future is to harvest and freeze her eggs now before she goes through chemo. On top of her existing medical bills she now has to figure out how to afford harvesting her eggs. We are looking to raise as much as we can for Maggie to put to her medical needs and treatments and show her that this illness does not define her. It is just a part of her journey. Her positivity should be an inspiration to all.
