Merren Family Fund

Jeff Merren is a friendly face that people all around the Toledo area have known for years. He and his family are active members of the community and help others as much as possible. He has worked at Gladieux Do-it-Best Home Center for the past 30 years, but due to his medical issues, he has not worked since Sept. 20. They have done their best trying to help by continuing to pay him, but his pay will end soon. It is now very uncertain when he will be able to return to work. In September of 2017, Jeff had a doctor’s appointment because he had not been feeling well. He was admitted to St. Charles for testing and he ended up staying there for 6 days. Jeff lost some of his strength in his legs during the time of being at home, but was regaining it as each day passed. About a month later on October 23rd, Jeff went to St. Vincent’s for Heart surgery. The surgeon performed a quadruple bypass, and repaired 2 valves. The surgery was successful, but he had a mini stroke after the surgery, which affected his left leg. Jeff has lost most of the strength in his body and can not even stand up. On November 20th, after 9 days of being at Advanced Specialty Hospital, Jeff was taken back to St. V’s for another surgery. An infection was spreading rapidly due to a bed sore from being unable to move for about a month. He has had 2 surgeries already to remove dead tissue and infection. The bacteria in his body is fast moving. He will have a permanent colostomy put in place. Up to this point, Jeff has been particpating in all of his physical therapy and is really trying his best to get better soon. He is fighting his best fight and will be recovering for a while. Insurance is covering most of the medical bills, but without his monthly income it will become a struggle. Marianne, his wife, works 5 days a week from 3pm-11pm . She is doing her best to provide for the three children that are still living at home. Our family has been helping as much as they can with rides, getting food for the kids and taking them to the hospital. Jeff and Marianne have five children, Bob, Chad, Maggie, Casey, and James. Bob and Chad are supporting themselves with steady jobs. Maggie is in college, Casey is in high school and James is in junior high. Casey even tried to get a job to help, but could not because she is not yet 16. Friends have been sending cards, visiting Jeff and the family and bringing over food. We are so grateful for the prayers, thoughts and endless love we have been sent. Money for Jeff’s lost income would help pay bills and support us in the time Jeff will be out of work.
