My name is Patrick Goodwin and I'm a professional tattoo artist in Raleigh, North Carolina. I'm try very hard to contiuously improve myself in my field. On top of that keep up with the newest and best equipment in the industry.
Recently, the shop I work at had some new neighbors move in above us. Their contractor decided to have an unlicsensed plumber take care of the plumbing needs. Something went wrong and our shop flooded. Even having an inch of water running through the shop, most everything in the shop was okay.
The main damage was done in my booth, namely my inks. Water poured out from the ceiling all over $1087 of ink. On top of that, a now burnt out, $450 machine. I also had a few priceless drawings on the wall, that can't be replaced.
The insurance company (one who clearly doesn't care about the health of others) claims that the ink is fine and safe to use. They won't budge and won't replace any of it. I care too much about what I do and can't bring myself to put something that's been contaminated into someone's body. I don't know where the water came from and what else it picked up on the way down.
This is my livelihood and this is equipment that I use every day. Without it, there's not much I can do in a field that I've worked so hard to get where I am. And unfortunately I don't have $1500 to just replace everything I need.
I don't like asking for money. I find it embarassing and it's very hard for me to do. To try and justify anyone helping me out, I'm offering prints (The Bart Simpson one from the picture above and below). Anyone who is nice enough to help me out I'll be sending one of these to. As a way to say thank you. It's not much, but it's the least I can do. I usually sell these for $10, but if you skip coffee for the day and donate $4, I'm sending one to you. If someone wants the original, $100 it's yours. Donate $400 I'll go to the shop on my day off and I'll tattoo this design on you.
