It's so hard to believe its been 10 years since we lost Jake after his 9 month battle with Aplastic Anemia. In honor of this anniversary, and Jake's life, we've decided to create the Jacob J. Love Foundation with an initial goal to raise $10,000!
Many of you know about the Jake Effect Scholarship that we have been raising money for over the last 10 years. This scholarship provides an annual scholarship for a Troy High School band student to further their musical education. The recipient of the Jacob Love scholarship will be chosen on the basis of need and a demonstration of the qualities and character that Jake exemplified. Our new foundation will continue to fund this scholarship as well as provide additional funds to the Troy High School Bands program.
We're also going to provide funds to additional organizations that had an impact on Jake's life:
1) The Rainbow Connection helps make wishes come true for Michigan children with life threatening medical conditions. Everyone knows about Jake's love for aviation. He wanted to be a pilot! The Rainbow Connection helped provide funding so that Jake could ride along with the University of Michigan Survival Flight team taking him over Spartan Stadium, Detroit Metro Airport and Comerica Park on Father's Day with his Dad, just weeks before he passed.
2) The U of M Survival Flight provides critical care and rapid and safe transport of critically ill and injured patients to/from the U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Nothing would have made Jake happier than to know that these funds would continue to help students further their musical education, provide funding to a program that had such a positive impact on his life, provide other sick children with a wish come true, or even save a life!
Throughout his life, Jake inspired many people - family, friends, doctors, nurses and many others by living a lifestyle of "quiet courage, inspiration, and the need to live, laugh and love every day." We thank you for donating to the Jacob J. Love Foundation to help pass along this inspiration.
