Tattoo School

Hey there everyone.

 I'm raising money for tattoo school tuition and supplies.  In return for a donation toward this goal I will use my skills to give you a tattoo (in the future).  So it's like a hybrid of a donation and a trade: a "donade," if you will...

I've been doing art in many different mediums for a long time, but I've always loved how tattooing brings art right to the people and literally changes them.  It's primal and ancient (check out Otzi) but at the same time fully alive and always transforming.  Somehow it only occurred to me recently that I could actually learn it myself (I guess I thought you had to be born into it or chosen during a secret rite like the masons).  

In most places the tradition is to find an established professional to apprentice under. But the regulations in Oregon are unusual.  To become a licensed tattooer here one must attend a certified school. The course I'm doing can take anywhere from 4 to 12 months to complete, then I take the state licensing exam. And my hope is to continue my growth as a tattoo artist with a mentor after I graduate.

Any donation you decide to make will be appreciated profoundly and massively.  But my idea was to make it a kind of time-based, trust-based barter system so that (if you want one) you can get a tattoo (or artwork) from me in the future in exchange for your contribution now.  Think of it as an investment in a more decorated future you.

I created the reward levels for fun, but the idea is that the reward will be a future tattoo of a size and complexity that roughly matches the donation amount (although less than $50 will be artwork, not a tattoo).
If you don't want a tattoo I can produce custom artwork along the same lines as above.
