Send Farmers to UN Climate Convention to be Heard

Spende geschützt

Farmers’ and Indigenous Peoples’ voices need to be heard when world leaders assemble in Glasgow, Scotland this November, to discuss climate agreements that will profoundly affect the future of all living beings on this precious earth, our home.

We are farmers and Indigenous Peoples who are seeing the effects of the climate crisis on our farms and who know the policy and science to address the climate crisis in agriculture.

The National Farmers Union asks for your help in sending NFU farmers, including Indigenous farmers, to the UN Climate Conference in Scotland.

We won’t be simply attending, we’ll take every opportunity to speak to the Canadian and international media to urge the Canadian government to do more to protect the interests of farmers, workers, and Indigenous peoples and reduce greenhouse gas emissions both on-farm and throughout the food chain;

We will meet with and put pressure on Canadian officials to inform officials about effective agricultural solutions to the climate crisis including reducing nitrogen fertilizer use and adopting low-input approaches, cover cropping, climate-compatible livestock management, and beginning the long process of transformation--to low-emission, climate-resilient, higher-net-income production systems.

NFU farmers will participate in side-events and civil society activities in official spaces and on ‘the streets’ to expose corporate greenwashing and ‘false solutions’ to the climate crisis. They will join the People’s Summit mobilization to join with allied movements fighting for bold climate action in line with what science and justice demand. And they will bring diverse voices to this discussion--voices that speak on behalf of youth, women, Indigenous peoples, peasants, the land, nature, and our collective future.

Please help us get to Glasgow so our voices can be heard. Donate today. Thank you!

Any funds not needed for travel will be applied to the NFU's Agricultural Climate Action work.
