Marcy's Heart Transplant

Donation protected
My name is Marcy Cross and I am a 52 year old mother to one daughter and a grandmother to two of the most beautiful boys ever!  I love Tennessee football, laughing, reading, and being with my family and friends.  I am proud to be a breast cancer survivor.  That battle was hard fought and didn't come without consequences.  After my chemotherapy, I developed a viral pneumonia that caused congestive heart failure, which resulted in having to have a defibrillator put on my heart.  Despite numerous medications and a recent mitral valve replacement (in December of this past year), I am an end-stage congestive heart failure patient.  At my last visit at Vanderbilt Medical Center, I was told that the only thing that will save my life is a heart transplant.  I have traveled the 3 hour drive to Vanderbilt numerous times for various appointments, testing, valve replacement surgery, and most recently a hospitalization due to the reoccurrence of congestive heart failure.
Prior to the latest round of illness, I was working full time as a receptionist at the cancer treatment clinic (where I received my chemo treatments).  It was truly my dream job.  It was so fulfilling to be able to see patients that came in so very sick and unsure of their future.  I felt like if they knew my story, and how I had overcome so much, that they might feel a sense of hope.  Unfortunately, in August of 2013, my health became so bad I couldn't work anymore.  My mitral valve was in need of repair; the effects took an enormous toll on my everyday life.  I couldn't function normally.  I became winded from performing simple tasks, like walking across a room or from taking a shower.  I knew my health was deteriorating.  I just simply could not work.  I was devastated to have to give up my job.  I also had to find some sort of income.  In mid-August of last year, I applied for my social security disability.  I still have yet to receive any funds whatsoever.  That was almost 7 months ago!
Fortunately, I was blessed by God to have an amazing family and wonderful friends.  They have done everything possible (and then some) to help me.  Now I'm losing my home and am moving in with my sister and brother-in-law.  Thankfully, the great state of Tennessee has given me $198 dollars of food stamps a month, for which I am very appreciative.  I'm very grateful that I am not in danger of starving.
I am asking for donations to cover the multitude of trips to Vanderbilt, living expenses after my heart transplant, and any other associated costs that I may incur.  After my transplant surgery, I will have to stay in the local area of Vanderbilt for 6 weeks.  During that time I will undergo biopsies of the heart, be monitored for any rejection of my new heart, and have adjustments made to my medications as needed to lessen the possibility for rejection.  Someone must stay with me the entire time I am in the Vanderbilt area during the post-surgery phase.  I don't know anyone that can just drop their life and take a 6 week vacation to live with me!  Of course there will be additional expenses for food and fuel while we are there as well.
I am asking for your help.  I am in dire straits.  My world feels upside down and I am so stressed about waiting on my disability approval.  I was told yesterday by my doctor at Vanderbilt that if I don't get the transplant I would have about 2 years to live.  I WANT TO LIVE! I am a fighter!  I do not give up easily and I will do whatever I can to prolong my life.  I want to be able to see my grandsons grow up.  Any donation to help would be appreciated beyond what you could imagine.  It is so hard to be at this point in my life, but I have to do what I have to do.  So here I am.  I understand everyone has different situations, so If you are unable to donate in a monetary form, I would be so very grateful if you would please simply pray for me and my situation.  I sincerely thank you so much for taking the time to read this.  May God bless you.
