On Friday July 21, my seven year old son Evan was diagnosed with a posterior fossa brain tumor, located above the brain stem. He successfully survived a 10 hour brain surgery two days later, which removed 80 to 90% of the tumor.
Because of the life threatening nature of Evan’s illness, my husband Adam and I have been at Evan’s side during the surgery and now during the rehab. As a result, we have not been able to work, and our finances are depleted.
Although Adam will be going back to Monterey to resume work, I will be with Evan at the rehab center during August and September. He is going to need extensive physical therapy and speech therapy due to the fact that he has lost the ability to speak, swallow, and walk. This means that I will not be contributing to the household income during this time.
Thus, we are looking to raise $10,000 to cover living expenses such as rent, utilities, food, hospital visits, etc. Any donation, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. Laura Alexander
