<div>On February 15, I’m running the Austin Half Marathon to raise money for the Clinton Young Foundation - a foundation dedicated to supporting people who are wrongfully convicted or disproportionately sentenced in Texas. These are cases like the client who received 50 years for driving under the influence, or the man who has spent 28 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. Last year, I had the opportunity to intern with the Foundation, and the experience taught me more than I can put into words. I’ve just arrived in Texas and hope to contribute even more to the Foundation’s work and to the broader fight against injustice. Being exposed to these stories - of lives upended by extreme sentencing and wrongful convictions - is deeply moving and impossible to forget.

<div>I grew up in a safe country, with the financial means to study, in a supportive environment, and with the freedom to go for a run whenever I want. Seeing these cases up close has made me more aware than ever of the opportunities I’ve had, and of the importance of giving something back.
