Molly's Mission to Belize

Hi Everyone!
As you may or may not know I'm currently finishing my junior year at Colby-Sawyer College, working towards my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. After contemplating how I should spend some of my time this summer, in a way that would be most beneficial to my education, it came to mind to research something I have always been interested in doing, but never thought was possible. This search has led me to discover a mission trip specific for nursing students. The trip is with an organization called Independent Service Learning (ISL). Out of several available countries I could travel to, I have chosen Belize.
The specific nursing trip I will be attending is titled, Well Child International, which focuses on caring for pregnant women and children. I will be working in a clinic there providing care to this population of natives. I have chosen this particular program due to my desire to pursue a career in this nursing specialty. I feel this opportunity is going to forever impact not only my life but also my education and my career as a nurse. Having the chance to care for underprivileged women and children in another country, that may not receive care otherwise, would be truly "HUGE" for me! I find myself at a loss for better words to describe the feelings I have about this experience and what I will gain from it. Thanks for reading.
