Praying for Victor's Safe Journey

On February 5, 2014, Victor underwent Aortic Aneurysm surgery. While the aneurysm was repaired, Victor suffered a Spinal Stroke during surgery. This has left him a Paraplegic. He is currently undergoing intensive physical therapy and is expected to be able to come home in late March. In addition to the emotional toll this is taking on Victor, other nerve related complications have occurred as well as medical complications (pressure sores, thrombosis). Unfortunately the out of pocket expenses have already proven to be daunting. Visits to him have had to be limited to every few days as he is 80 miles from home. Our house will have to be made Handicapped Accessible (ramps built, doors widened, bathroom redone, carpeting removed, etc.). Insurance does not cover any of this. Not to mention prescription medications totalling $350.00 per month (after insurance). While insurance will cover some of the costs for a home health care aid it will not cover this assistance for more than a few weeks. The rehab center has asked that I stay in a hotel in Baltimore for his last week of rehab as I will need to be trained to take care of his physical needs. He will need help doing even the smallest of tasks (rolling over in bed, bowel training, catheterizing, etc). Victor is a WONDERFUL loving husband and father. We are thankful that he survived this trauma. We appreciate all of your prayers and support. With your support and God's love we look forward to our new Normal! It will be a long journey but, one that we are blessed to be making.
