We've spent all year consistently discussing Assata Shakur, Joy James and how they provide political and intellectual models for us to understand our positionality as black and white women in debate. It's something we're incredibly passionate about and talk about in and outside of debate and we think that it's important to continue to build relationships within the community, forming what we like to call the beloved community discussed in:
We believe all students have the right to compete, should have the opportunity to both teach and learn, and funding shouldn't constrict that.
Long story short, we four bids this year, Quarters of Greenhill, Semis of Memorial, Semis of Colleyville, and Quarters of Berkeley- and after all of the work to get to the tournaments to get the bids we now need help to get to the tournament. THE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, bad news is it's hard to be a champion when you can't get to the tournament.
Funds will be used to pay for plane tickets, hotel rooms, and food for the weekend.
Again we already appreciate all of the help we've received this year and you can bet that we won't let you down. If you can help, we'd really appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and share if you can!
