"Had the beams in the old World Trade Center been wrapped in the 3000F Sunseeker Fire blanket it would have allowed us more time to save those who eventually perished."

Utilizing NASA technology, we can develop a fire shelter that will give fire fighters up to 3000F degrees of protection for up to 3 times as long!

WHAT IS THE SUNSEEKER FIRESHELTER?

We are working with with Anchor Industries (the current USDA approved manufacturer of the current fire shelter in use), to create a new and improved fire shelter for America's firefighters. Being a firefighter is a dangerous job we want to give them a product that they can have confidence in.

The SunSeeker Fire Shelter is composed of a Fire Blanket that has a 3000F melting point that can be used to save lives and protect homes and business.

Our fire blanket is created from a ceramic / zirconia material that doesn't burn and can withstand heat up to 3000F with 0 smoke or fumes and water resistant.

The material possesses the advantages of low heat storage and complete resistance to thermal shock. The SunSeeker Fire Blanket incorporates the same technology used by NASA to handle the searing heat (2,700°F) of atmospheric reentry.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Beyond this application, our fire blanket can be integrated into structures for those who want to better protect their home from a fire and brick-and-mortar business owners who want to safeguard their establishments.

On a smaller scale, individuals can use our product to tackle daily tasks and problems, including handling hot items in the kitchen. Outside the home, individuals can use a smaller, personal-sized fire blanket in case of automobile-related emergencies, camping trip or even protect your laptop.

WHY GoFundMe?

The US Forestry has experienced major budget cuts in this area of fire protection and firefighters need our product. We need the money for research and development not only for a better shelter, but a better way of deploying.

No one hears about how many firefighters are found a 100 from their shelters because they could not keep it on in extreme wind conditions that a wildfire can generate.

Last June, a wildfire broke out in Yarnell, Arizona that raged on for over two weeks and, in the process, took the lives of 19 firefighters and destroyed more than 120 buildings.

The fire shelters in use by wildland firefighters today protect up to 1000°F for a minute or two at best. The firefighters in the Yarnell Hill Fire didn't stand a chance deploying their shelters when the temperatures from the wildfire rose to over 2,000°F.

Our goal is to make sure that firefighters in this position have a much better chance of survival with the SunSeeker Fire Shelter.

We are also developing patentable residential and commercial applications to protect homes and places of business. With our blanket in between the plywood and roofing shingles, tiles, etc.

We can stop the heat transference that occurs from burning embers traveling miles and landing on roofs. It is estimated that close to 50% of the homes that burn to the ground in wildfire scenarios aren't even in the direct path of the fire. Burning embers can travel miles landing on roofs.

William Jimeno, NY Port Authority police officer and WTC survivor stated that if the old World Trade Center's structural beams had been wrapped with this blanket it could have bought them  another hour or two before the towers collapsed.

Once the beams reached 2000F, the oxygen inside of the concrete actually exploded causing the steel beams to fail.  This has lead to meetings and further development with SOM, the new World Trade Center architects.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

Our goal is that SunSeeker Fire Shelters become the standard tool for every firefighter. The Yarnell Hill fire was a wake-up call; it became apparent that firefighters need a better, safer fire shelter, and we have created just that with the SunSeeker Fire Shelter.

We're asking the GoFundMe community to help us make our goal a reality by backing our fire shelter project so we can help curb the continual loss of lives sustained by wildland fires . Once we meet our initial goal, we can then further develop the product to be used for commerical and residential applications.

ABOUT US

At SunSeeker, our purpose is to deliver advanced fire protection technology to address emergency situations and everyday consumer market applications.

The high-temperature fire protection and thermal-insulation-qualities of aerospace-grade ceramic fiber used by NASA can better protect residential homes, commercial buildings and personal property.

We've collaborated closely with individuals that work with NASA and the National Forestry Service to develop a product with better fire protection than what it currently available, with our ultimate goal being that this product helps save lives.

RISKS AND CHALLENGES

Our fire shelter is going to weigh more than the current one that comes in at just over 5 pounds. Ours should weigh in at just under 7 pounds. However, the weight distribution will be much stronger and more efficient.

The risk and reward challenge is that there are divided viewpoints on whether or not it's worth the additional weight because firefighters carry so much gear to begin with. We believe this viewpoint has changed after the Yarnel Incident.

Ever present challenges are the extreme winds that the fire fighters have to deploy in can be over 50 mph.  I believe our deployment method will give fire fighters fewer challenges. The blanket will easily withstand the 2,500°F+.

We're in communication with one of directors of the US Forestry who was on the investigation team for the Yarnell Fire as well as the director of the testing facility.

3rd. STAGE DEVELOPMENT FOR FAMILIES AND ANIMALS

We would also like to develop a consumer friendly, family home fire protection blanket, as well as protection for animals in zoos in fire areas.

Protocal for a major zoo in a Colorado fire area is to shoot the animals and evacuate because there is not enough time to move the animals and even if they get them into shelters the temperatures will be unsurvivable.

This is not the case if the shelters are lined with our blanket as a wildfire can travel 100 yards in 19 seconds.   In this case, the rewards far outweigh any potential risks and challenges.

One of our fire chief supporters stated that he had been on literally hundreds of calls whereby if family members could have wrapped themselves in a material like ours it could have at the least minimized severe burns by keeping clothing and hair from burning during evacuation. Once clothing starts to burn it sticks to the skin and keeps burning.
