College Trip for Inner City Students

Miami Northwestern is a Title I school in the heart of one of the oldest black communities in the South Florida. Median family income falls below $25,000, with nearly 75% of the school receiving free and reduced lunch. My students rarely leave the community and have a limited view of the wider world, but this has not stifled the big dreams they have for their futures.
With your help, four of my most promising and highest performing students will be able to visit 12 of the best colleges in the nation: Bowdoin, Bates, Middlebury, Williams, Colgate, Hamilton, Bucknell, Lafayette, Barnard, NYU, Haverford, and Swarthmore. I am anxious to give them a broader perspective and inspire them with the many options they have for their future.
While this is a small trip, I promise that its impact will be deep and long-lasting. All of these students will be the first in their families to graduate from college, and I know this will be the first step on that journey.
