Medical Bills for Hanna

Donation protected
Good day. First, we would like to thank you for your prayers. Hanna is now showing good signs of recovery. I am writing this letter to seek financial assistance for the hospitalization of my only daughter, Hanna Elijah B. Laplana, 4 months old, born September 20, 2013.

Imagine this: Heart-stopping screams capture your full attention. It's your 4 month old baby girl. She has her legs pulled up to her chest in a desperate attempt to stop the excruciating pain: even if only just a little. As you attempt to give some ounce of comfort to your baby, you find yourself feeling completely helpless. Something is desperately wrong.

Hanna is confined at the Pediatric Intensive Care unit of Far Eastern University - Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (FEU-NRMF), diagnosed with Intussusceptions, which eventually caused a Serosal Tear. Her sickness started with diarrhea. As a father, I only wanted to give her the best medical attention. Since I just recently received my regularization, I cannot yet enroll Hanna as a dependent on my medical card. Given this, we can only use the services of a community hospital, Novaliches General Hospital. Hanna was confined at this hospital for 3 days with a diagnosis of Amoebiasis with acute Gastroentiritis. To our surprise, on her 3rd day, we were forced to transfer to a larger hospital with specialized doctors because of her condition. Still in shock, but without considering the expenses we might incur, we immediately transferred her to FEU-NRMF, a private tertiary hospital. On the following day, February 12, 2014, after a series of body fluid correction, Hanna underwent an emergency intestinal surgery to address Intussusceptions.

Her very young body found it extremely difficult to recover from the first surgical operation, which led to another condition "“ a Serosal Tear "“ requiring a second surgery done 3 days after her first. All these are too difficult to accept, given her age. We were beyond frightened as the doctors openly discussed the risks, but promised their best. With very strong faith in the Lord, we left everything to His grace. Evidently, with all the progress Hanna is showing now, we can firmly say, that our Lord God never left us and has listened to our prayers.

The medical bills totaled to Php 164,255 ($3671.26 USD) as of February 20, 2014. I would give my daughter every cent I have to my name, but unfortunately, we do not have these finances. The word "appreciative" doesn't even begin to represent the emotions we would feel in return for the financial help to settle our hospital bills.

I have included here, Hanna's prayer:

Dear Lord,
I am Hanna, 4 months old and currently confined at FEU as I recently underwent 2 major surgeries. I am thanking you, Dear Lord, for saving and giving me another chance in life to grow and be with my parents. Please bless everyone, especially my parents in giving more than what they can and holding to their faith in you. And now, I am asking you Dear Lord to please help my parents to gather all your graces to settle all obligations caused by the medical procedures done to me. I promise you, Dear Lord, that when I grow up I will surely find a way with your help to personally thank all those who allowed themselves to be your instrument in sending your grace to me and my family.

Forever thankful,
Hanna

On behalf of my family, we will be forever grateful for whatever help you may extend to us.

Sincerely yours,
Danilo M. Laplana
