David's Seizure Treatment

Donation protected
My son David is a great kid, plays the violin (was concert master at his high school orchestra), plays soccer and just wants to do the things a normal 17 year old boy would do. He has had a seizure disorder since the age of 11, but it has gotten worse lately. The medications to slow down his seizures also tire him out and leave him exhausted, but have still not eliminated the seizures. The medication route has been deemed a failure. For the first time ever he is not trying out for his soccer team because he no longer has the stamina to compete.

We are getting ready for brain surgery in June to remove a spot of tissue from the right parietal lobe. David has been in and out of hospitals testing and measuring his brain in preparation for surgery. We still have a major test needed and need to travel to Houston for a MEG (Magnetoencephalography) test. There are very few of these machines in the country and insurance is seeing it as out of network so we need to come up with funds for this trip and test along with the other expenses we have already encured.

The hope is that surgery will provide a permanant long term cure from his seizures that will allow him to get off the drugs, drive, date, go to college and live a normal life.
