Jacob Rohde, 19, from Chicago Heights, IL., was in a critical car accident. His friend, Johnny Lewis, was recently released from the hospital. The Rohde's family dog, Harold, did not survive. They collided with a semi truck on January 27th, 2014. Jacob was taken by ambulance 60 miles to the nearest hospital. Jacob has been in a comatose-like state since the accident. His extended list of injuries are all still life threatening. Jacob had bruising and swelling on his brain. He has brain damage, a blown pupil, cracked sternum, broken ribs, and a broken pelvis. He also has a broken femur, lacerated liver, fluid around his lungs, and had a rod put in his broken arm. These injuries and others still pose a major threat to his well being. The doctors can not assess Jacob's brain damage until he regains full consciousness. Jacob's future is uncertain, but one thing is for sure. Jacob faces a long road to recovery and is in need of our love and support.

Before the accident, Jacob was a very active and determined young man with an amazing personality. He was blessed with humor, was smart and funny, and was extremely talented. At a young age, Jacob loved sports. He was involved in travel baseball teams including the Chicago Heights Jayhawks and teams from Steger and Orland Park. He attended Homewood Flossmoor High School where he continued to play baseball and football. Jacob is a recent high school graduate and was recently sworn into the United States Navy. Jacob is the youngest of 4 children in the Rohde family. He was set to leave for bootcamp in May of 2014. Since the accident, he has received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy. Jacob turned 19 in the hospital 1 week after the accident, with his parents by his side.

Donations and words of encouragement are deeply appreciated by the Rohde family. No one deserves to endure the pain this family is going through right now. Sadly, in a tragedy such as this, bills tend to pile up...even multiply substantially.

Those who are unable to attend the event, "The 1st Annual Jacob Rohde Recovery Benefit", but would like to help out, may make a donation to this page or contact us through this page. Thank you for your continued generosity, thoughts, and prayers. Jacob needs all of your love, strength and positive wishes.
