The Ally Fund

Ally Ogston is a remarkable woman from South Africa I met in June of 2013 at the Amputee Coalition Annual Conference. She has been an amputee for many years, and I... a "newbie" was only 4 months along. It was the first time both of us had been exposed to such a vast number of individuals just like us, that we could confide in, interact with, and feel a unique sense of comfort with. We tried new activities, learned valuable information, met new friends, and created memories and a friendship that will dwell in my heart always. It took 10 years of planning and the generosity of one very caring man to bring her here, to the United States for the first time for this wonderful event. My hope with this site, is to allow her the opportunity to return once again for the 2015 Conference. Even if this only gets as far as our circle of friends and aquaintances from the amputee community I think we can make some great headway. But ... if we could share it with our prosthetists, friends, family, support groups, whatever... I'm sure we could do it! My plan is to fly Ally from SA to the States via NYC. From there, I will pick her up, host her in my home as family both before and after the conference, and return her to the airport to fly home to SA. Funds will be used exculsively for travel (SA and back, as well as to Tuscon and back), conference expenses, and some spending money for Ally's incidentals.

Just a little can help a lot. We have over a year to collect these funds. If by chance, we don't make our goal (But, I am very optimistic!), the funds will go toward the 2017 conference as they are now held only every two years. Who will help me bring Ally back?
