701-707 E Lake Street Fund

Donation protected
Today, May 30th, 2020, Minneapolis is in distress. East Lake Street is the center of looting and vandalism in the night, yet at the same time, so much generosity from volunteers cleaning up during the day.

The business of 701, 703, 705, & 707, have seen horrific events occur at their places of business. These include La Michoacana Purepecha (Ricardo Hernandez), Total Wireless (Yassir Mansour), Granny's Helpful Hands (Chavez Willis), and El Chuchi Market (Luis Tamay).

These small, independent, family businesses truly serve their neighborhood. We don't know when the destruction will end but any financial random act of kindness will help to ease their burden.

Amongst all the destruction, we all still remain hopeful. This is not about a storefront or physical building, but life-savings, dreams for children, and a reason for being, their SURVIVAL. This is a TOKEN of compassion, for when they will be able to open their doors again.

All donations go to the small businesses listed above. They are no longer operating due to looted inventory, broken windows, debris from fires occurring on the corner of Park Ave and Lake Street (Shell Gas station 5/29), Intermaco Auto Body (5/29), and O'Reilly Auto Parts (5/29), and most significantly, the 1/2 block to the East, only separated by an alley, in which was burned to the ground.

My dad is the property manager and owner of this building, we have been involved with the community for 25+ years.  It is so tragic to see the destruction. These donations are for the inventory of  La Michoacana Purepecha, Total Wireless, Granny's Helpful Hands, and El Chuchi Market.  Our building did not have power Saturday, May 30th, inventory was looted previous nights and perishable inventory was given to volunteers on Saturday.

Thank you and may God Bless you, #justiceforGeorge,
Bridget Schoffman
