Leo Namen started climbing mountains many years ago and has since summited many peaks, often raising money for important causes with his climbs. In March, 2018, Leo summited Pico de Orizaba, the highest peak in Mexico, and used the climb as a fundraiser for orphans in the city of Orizaba. During the climb, he experienced some chest pain—a foreshadowing of what was to come. In April 12 2018 Leo was rushed to the hospital because of a heart attack. He survived and began his physical recovery, but soon discovered that heart attacks also take an emotional and mental toll. Determined to overcome the setback of his heart attack and as a fundraiser for Heart & Stroke; taking his heart to the highest! In April 2022 Leo will head to Nepal for the greatest challenge of his life! On his 52th birthday, Leo is going to attempt to summit Mt Everest while raising money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. When successful he will be the first Canadian Heart Attack survivor to complete this feat and the second man on earth to do so. He will also complete his first of the 7 summits.
